Rasam Recipe [Authentic Chennai style]

  • Soak lemon sized Tamarind in hot water.
  • Pressure cook 4 table spoons of Arhar daal with half a spoon Turmeric powder, dilute with one cup of water and keep aside .
  • Now , take the juice of Tamarind in a vessel , bring it to boil , add salt , fresh Curry leaves , 2 tea spoon full Rasam powder .
  • After 2 minutes add the cooked daal.
  • Remove from flame after 5 minutes.
  • In a pan put little Ghee , add 1 spoon Mustard seeds , plnch of Hing , and 1 spoon of Jeera sabut .
  • When Mustard sputters put this in Rasam.... Enjoy piping hot Rasam as Soup or with Rice.... Happy feasting. 😊
